Can you tell us who you are and what you do? I am a Professional Master Coach accredited by the International Authority for Professional Coaching and Mentoring (IAPCM). I am American born, grew up in Switzerland where my family moved in the 60’s. My father was the marketing man for a US corporation establishing European headquarters. Corporate lifestyle and executives were very much part of my upbringing. Consequently I feel at home in and amongst any cultures and with all management levels within organizations. A feeling for ‘life at work’ and how it integrates ‘with life at home’ comes to me naturally and is my passion as a coach. After 32 years in England I now live back in Switzerland and work internationally since 2006. What is your elevator pitch? “Where there is a will, there is a way”. 'I support you and together we find the way and keep your motivation in tact to stay on the ‘way’. What is the one thing that makes you unique in this profession? My goal is not keep clients involved in long-term contracts. I love that about coaching. I work with my clients for a little while, establishing the needed skills to deal with the obstacles in their way. I am here for them to come back to for some ‘maintenance’ or ‘upgrades’ at a later date. To me successful coaching means my client is in a better place having enhanced their strengths, manage their weaknesses better, and are able to handle day to day with more comfort and ease. What makes you stand out from the crowd? I am known for my incisive questioning, open-heart, ability not to be judgmental and holding the space with and for my clients. Equally for being able to quickly grasp the underlying issues. I have been told that 'clarity' is one of my specialties. What inspired you to become a coach? It seemed crazy not to get the appropriate training and be able to offer my natural skills on a professional basis. It had been suggested to me to consider becoming a coach long before I even knew what it was. One day it seemed posters, articles, emails and online posts were all about coaching! This intrigued me so I attended several open days for different coaching schools. When I was at the one for Noble Manhattan it was quite clear I had found what was to come next in my life. I have now been a professional coach for 18 years and still love it. What has been the most powerful moment in your career? Acquiring the confidence and learning how to let go of the structure you learn in the training. Instead go with the flow of the moment with your client, hear what is not being said while holding the space with them. Having a good rapport with my clients offers them a place of total security and safety. I value being able to offer people some time to feel this way . Have you ever been coached yourself? Of course. In order to be a good coach you need to be in good shape yourself. What is the most powerful coaching lesson you have ever learned? Knowing that the best way forward for my client will reveal itself during our session. What is your favourite coaching question? I cannot think of one particular question that I might have and ‘use’ on a regular basis. I would say simply being present with your client and staying curious throughout the entire session brings up the best questions. My parents – both coaches by nature in their very own unique ways, equally my children who have drive, motivation & courage to step ‘outside the box’. What message do you have for anyone who aspires to have you as their role model? Be yourself, do what brings you joy regardless of what ‘others’ say, believe, or think. What important question didn't we ask you, and why? How do I maintain balance? To me learning / acquiring life skills in order to always be able to return to a place of balance is the way to a successful, calm and rewarding life. I have learned how to handle my triggers faster rather than let something bother me for a longer time. What is your favourite quote? My favorite quotes are: “You cannot change people, you can only change how you react” “Don’t believe everything you think” “If you think you can or cannot – you are right” Let's talk.
